About the Campaign
The campaign “1 Minute for Human Rights” seeks, through 32 testimonials, to report the activity pattern of enterprises in the territories – especially TNCs –, which allows for a constant dynamic of human rights violations, from the very sketch of the enterprise itself.
This condition aggravates due to the impunity through which those corporations benefit from, and is often associated with the connivance or complicity of states where they establish their economic activities. Thus, our Campaign joins the “Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity“ campaign, in order to unite our voices in support of a binding treaty negotiation process on Business and Human Rights, in place since 2014 after the approval of Res. 26/9 of the UN Human Rights Council.
Testimonies were gathered during the III International Seminar on Human Rights and Business, organized by Homa (www.homacdhe.com) and the Foundation Friedrich Ebert (FES). The event was held at PUC-Rio, between the 27th and the 29th April 2016 and was attended by people affected by human rights violations and members of non-governmental organizations but also by both Brazilian and international government officials and academics.
